Evaluating finance platforms
I helped evaluate finance platforms against process, integration and commercial requirements, turning vendor demonstrations into structured input for a business decision.
The challenge
Finance was evaluating platforms for statutory reporting and procure-to-pay work. Demonstrations showed useful capabilities, but a decision also needed to account for implementation effort, integration, controls and how people would use and support the solution.
My contribution
I contributed to multi-stage evaluations covering demonstrations, requirements, commercial review and implementation considerations. For the P2P evaluation, the work included supplier analysis, a business case and a value diagnostic. The statutory-reporting evaluation included implementation proposal and delivery planning work.
The assessment considered how each option would fit the finance environment: the accounting data it needed to pass between systems, the controls it could support and the responsibilities required to operate it. These questions helped turn product discussions into a structured recommendation.
The outcome
Leadership had documented analysis to support the platform decisions and a clearer view of the implications beyond the demonstration. The work connected technology selection with the finance processes and operating arrangements it would need to support.
