Case study · Integration and financial controls
Warehouse integration and financial controls
I maintained a live warehouse EDI integration and applied Finance approval controls to stock adjustments. Inventory quantity and value accuracy between the warehouse and finance systems reached 99.9%.
The challenge
When I joined the pharmaceutical business, its system was being integrated with the warehouse through EDI for inbound and outbound goods. Keeping inventory quantities and values aligned between the warehouse and finance systems required ongoing maintenance and clear control over stock adjustments.
My contribution
I maintained the warehouse EDI integration in live use. Warehouse stock adjustments could not post directly: Finance had to review, validate and approve them before posting. This gave Finance a control point for checking adjustments before they entered the accounting records.
The outcome
Inventory quantity and value accuracy between the warehouse and finance systems reached 99.9%. The adjustment control also helped substantially reduce subsequent reconciliation disputes and unclear records.
