Building a finance technology roadmap
I helped bring ERP improvements, process changes and governance work into one prioritised roadmap, giving finance leaders a shared view of what needed to happen next.
The challenge
Several finance initiatives were underway, including ERP optimisation, process mapping and procure-to-pay transformation. They needed a shared view of priorities and dependencies so leadership could assess them together.
My contribution
I led the internal shaping of a multi-year Finance Technology Roadmap, working alongside an external transformation partner. I gathered input across Finance and IT, connected recurring operational problems with improvement initiatives and refined the roadmap through leadership discussions.
The sequencing was an important part of the work. Clear process ownership and reliable data were foundations for later automation. Grouping initiatives into short-, medium- and long-term horizons helped explain those dependencies and made the next steps easier to discuss.
The outcome
The roadmap established a consolidated view of finance technology priorities and supported recurring leadership reviews. It gave individual initiatives a wider context and created a regular opportunity to revisit direction as the work progressed.
